MADISON, Wis. (WMDX) — Madison could hit a high of 80 degrees Tuesday. But a late taste of summer temperatures comes with a price.

Every single person in Dane County is now affected by drought. Nearly half a million of us live here, and are now feeling the impact of how little rainfall we’ve gotten lately.

Nearly 60,000 cattle and 32,000 pigs are feeling the effects too. It’s also impacting our corn, soybeans, and hay.

According to the US Drought Monitor, this is the fourth-wettest year on record.

That can be hard to reconcile. We’re experiencing this drought, but we had so much rain earlier this year. Scientists agree this is an effect of climate change.

We might get some scattered showers Wednesday.
