The Lower Wisconsin State Riverway Board is sponsoring a series of canoe outings on the Wisconsin River through July. The large voyageur replica canoes commissioned by the State of Wisconsin in conjunction with the sesquicentennial in 1998 are used for the trips that explore different segments of the river. Trips are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, June 30 & July 1, from 9:00 to 1:00 from Gotham to Muscoda, and Thursday, July 3, from 9:00a to 2:00p from Lone Rock to Gotahm. To make a reservation or to ask questions about the canoe trips, contact the Riverway Board office Monday through Friday from 8:00a to 4:00p at 608-739-3188 or by emailing [email protected]. Additional information may be found on the Riverway Board website or Facebook page. Seating is limited to 14 people for each excursion and reservations are required.
The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Vernon County offers a free social group for individuals with early-stage dementia. The social group meets on the second and last Mondays of the month from 10:00a to 11:30a at the McIntosh Memorial Library conference room in Viroqua. The social group provides an opportunity to meet other people on a similar journey and share life stories with each other. Spouses, adult children, and friends are encouraged to join the group, too. A Red Cross Blood Drive will be held Monday, June 30, from 1:00p to 6:00p at the American Legion Clubhouse in Plain. Appointments are preferred by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS or go online to redcrossblood.org.
Morrill Lecture: Thriving Land: Farming while embracing a land ethic will be held Monday night, June 30, at 6:30p at the Octagon Barn in Spring Green for an evening with a panel of Wisconsin farmers who will share their unique stewardship approaches to agriculture, embracing the Leopold notion of a “land ethic”: personal responsibility for the conservation of the soil and water, the land and gratitude for its gifts. Dick Cates of Cates Family Farm in Spring Green will serve as moderator. His recently published a book, A Creek Runs Through This Driftless Land: A Farm Family’s Journey Toward a Land Ethic, will serve as a frame for the conversation. Tech Help Tuesday will be held every Tuesday at the Brewer Public Library from 9:00a to Noon. Get basic help with all apps and devices. Walk-ins are welcome. Appointments can be scheduled by calling the Brewer Public Library at 608-647-6444. There is no charge for this service.

Richland County Senior Dining Meal sites are open to the public for in-person dining. The Woodman Senior Center will serve meals Monday through Friday at 11:45a. Home delivered meals are available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Call Tina or Sandi at 608-647-2323. The Germantown Senior Dining Meal Site, located at St. Anthony’s School (32497 County Highway V, Cazenovia) is open Wednesdays with serving at 11:15. Home delivered meals are available for delivery Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. To reserve a meal call Rita at 608-983-2798. The Rockbridge Meal Site at Bethlehem Lutheran Church (25500 Rockbridge School Street, Richland Center) is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with serving at 11:30a. If you’re the main caregiver of a person living with dementia, you can join Agrace for a new “how-to” education series, Learning to Live with Dementia. The classes are taught by Agrace staff who have experience caring for people who have dementia. Three classes are planned for July. The first session, titled “Legal and Financial Decisions,” will be held Tuesday, July 1, from 11:00 to Noon. The second session, “Facility Support when You Need It,” will be held Thursday, July 17, from Noon to 1:00p. The third session, “Living at Home with Dementia”, will be Tuesday, July 29, from Noon to 1:00p. Each class is $20, and you may attend online using Microsoft Teams. The Richland County 4-H Youth Gardening Program at the Smart Farm which was postponed, June 24, will be made up Tuesday, July 1, from 6:00 pto 8:00p. For more information check out the 4-H Facebook page.
Concessions will be available in the Killian Meyer Building during Church League Softball with proceeds going towards construction of dugouts at Krouskop Park. The concessions will be open from approximately 6:40p to 9:00p each game night until further notice.

Wisconsin Women in Conservation (WiWiC) is inviting women landowners, farmers, farm workers, gardeners, and conservation professionals to a summer Learning Circle Potluck and farm/prairie tour at Sweet Springs Farm in Gays Mills on Wednesday, July 2, from 4:00p to 6:30p. The event offers an opportunity to connect with fellow women in conservation, tour a diversified organic farm, and learn from Harriet Behar, a longtime conservation advocate and WiWiC Queen Bee Award recipient. The event is free, but pre-registration is required at WiWiC.org. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair, a dish and/or beverage to share, and any questions they may have. This event is co-sponsored by Michael Fields Agricultural Institute and Renewing the Countryside.
