By Jimmie Kaska, Civic Media StaffWISCONSIN (Civic Media) – Incumbent Republican Elijah Behnke has been called the winner of the race for the 6th Assembly District in Wisconsin.
The Associated Press made the call Tuesday evening.
The Republican Party was favored in this district going into the election, according to CNalysis. The district was considered solid Republican with a projected margin of 31 points.
Behnke, who was drawn into the 6th District from the 89th, was first elected to the Assembly in 2021 in a special election. He is an entrepreneur and serves on three committees as well as the Speaker’s Task Force on Childhood Obesity.
In the August primary current 89th District representative Elijah Behnke defeated 6th District incumbent Peter Schmidt.
Behnke defeated Democratic challenger Shirley Hinze.
