WAUSAU, Wis. (WXCO) – Minor flooding is occurring in parts of the state after rapid snow melt causes rivers to rise, swelling banks and overflowing bends.

Flood Warnings, Watches and Advisories have been issued for the Wisconsin River, Black River and Wolf Rivers.

FLOOD WARNING: The Wisconsin River is rushing, carrying ice chunks, tree debris and more as it builds over the banks below the Wausau dam.

After rapid snowmelt and recent rain, water is overflowing at Oak Island Park as well as DC Everest.

FLOOD WATCH: Black River is supposed to peak Monday evening around 7 PM at 48 feet. This would be 1 foot over minor flood stage. Due to the recent rain the area received, picking up 0.75″. Some rural roads may begin to flood like county Highway VV to near the La Crosse county line.

STAY ALERT: Wolf River near Shiocton is expected to cause minor flooding starting Wednesday afternoon.

But before that, the little Wolf River may flood a little near Royalton on Tuesday.

The entire area is expected to receive an additional 0.25″ to 0.75″ of rain Saturday evening and into Sunday. Plus, ice accumulations near Wausau as well as some snow.
