Richland County D.A. announces her resignation
Today, Richland County District Attorney Jennifer Harper announced her resignation from her position as District Attorney, effective mid-July.
“It has been an honor to serve the people of Richland County as District Attorney for the last fifteen years,” said Harper. “This was a particularly difficult decision, as I’m leaving a tight-knit office of steadfast, hard-working individuals. Together, Assistant District Attorney Amy
Forehand, Andrea Fields, Denise Klingaman, and Krista Parker have decades of experience doing the very difficult, thankless work required of a District Attorney’s office. I appreciate their unwavering dedication.
“I also thank local law enforcement for partnering with my office to work toward greater community safety every day.”
District Attorney Harper began her career as a prosecutor in 2000 as an Assistant District Attorney in Richland County and was later appointed District Attorney by Governor Scott Walker in 2011.
Regarding her future plans, Harper said, “I will continue my work as a prosecutor. I’ll simply be in a different jurisdiction with a different focus.”
Governor Tony Evers will now be responsible for appointing a new District Attorney to fill the vacancy.
