Richland Center opened the SWC with a 56-52 win over River Valley. The Hornet boys took the lead for good with 1:45 left in the hard-fought battle.  The Blackhawks led by 12 points twice in the first half. Richland Center went on an 8-0 run at the end of the first stanza and trailed by 4 at halftime.  River Valley led by 5 with 3:30 left before the Hornets came back to take the lead and win to improve to 2-2 on the season and 1-0 in the league.  River Valley fell to 2-2 and 0-1 in the conference.
