Your WGBW On-Air Team

WGBW On Air Team: Dan Markus

Dan Markus grew up in Wisconsin listening to music and radio announcers — though he never imagined it as a career. But one visit to his college radio station at UW–Whitewater changed everything. A year later, he landed his first professional (meaning paid) job and has never looked back.

Now, more than 50 years later, Dan has earned multiple awards from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association.

With over 25 years living and working in the Green Bay radio market, Dan proudly claims he can safely navigate every roundabout the city throws at him. He and his wife Viki, live near Lambeau Field with Dutch the Dog and Drizzle the Blue Point Princess cat. He still loves that his daily commute takes him past Lambeau Field and over the Ray Nitschke Bridge — something his brother Bill (a Packers fan living in Bears country) is definitely jealous of.

WGBW On-Air Team: Laura McKenna

Laura McKenna grew up in Ohio and got her first radio job in Wisconsin back in 2005. Her favorite season is winter — making Green Bay the perfect place to live, although she loves spending her summers in the vegetable garden and cooking up vegetarian recipes in her pink kitchen.

A few years ago, she married her best friend from college, but they still don’t live in the same state (yet)!

While some people dream of traveling the world, Laura’s favorite place is home. She’s thrilled to be back on the radio in Green Bay with the amazing team at WGBW — working with old friends and colleagues makes it feel like home all over again.

Tune in weekdays from 9 AM to 2 PM — she’d love to spend the day with you!

WGBW On-Air Team: Eric Westphal

Eric Westphal was born in Green Bay and grew up in the Fox Valley. A graduate of Hortonville High School and Lawrence University, Eric originally planned to become a theater teacher — but radio’s siren song lured him in. He’s been proud to call the Green Bay area home for over a decade and now brings you Timeless Hits every weekday afternoon.

When he’s not on the air, you might find Eric on stage. He’s been a regular performer with local theater groups, appearing in everything from Shakespeare in the Park to leading roles in The Odd Couple, A Christmas Story, and It’s a Wonderful Life.

Eric also loves exploring Green Bay’s food and drink scene with his girlfriend Katie — and he’s always happy to share recommendations! He proudly backs the Pack, and his all-time favorite Packer is LeRoy Butler.

WGBW On-Air Team: Pete Schwaba

Pete Schwaba hosts the entertainment-based show Nite Lite with Pete Schwaba on the Civic Media Radio Network, weeknights from 6–8 PM. He’s also the host of Director’s Cut, Independent Lens, and POV on PBS.

When he’s not on the air, Pete is a stand-up comedian, writer, and film director. His credits include writing and directing The Godfather of Green Bay and A Guy Thing (MGM).

On the TV side, Pete was a writer/producer for Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (for Jeff Foxworthy) and Sports Soup. He’s also written for NBC, Lifetime, FOX, and The WB, including promotional work for NBC’s Football Night in America.

Pete is living proof that you can make a living as a writer — even if you can barely type.

Connie Fellman is an Emmy Award–winning journalist with a broadcast news career spanning decades. She joins Civic Media from the television world, having worked as an anchor, reporter, writer, and producer at three of Green Bay’s four local stations: WFRV Local 5, WLUK Fox 11, and WGBA NBC 26.

Connie is thrilled to continue her passion for local news behind the microphone at 97.9 WGBW. A proud Shawano native, she has lived all across Wisconsin and has called Green Bay home for over 30 years. She knows this community deeply and believes in the importance of covering local news in the communities we serve.

Outside the studio, Connie is an avid musician. She plays trumpet in local concerts and jazz bands, including the Allouez Village Band and the NEW Dixie Ramblers. She also volunteers to play Taps at veterans’ funerals and rocks lead guitar and vocals in the all-female band Chick Trip — alongside fellow Civic Media host Teri Barr on drums.
